It’s my first post of 2019, which means it’s time to lay out some new goals for my blog and other content this year, divulge my plans to achieve those goals, and make some predictions about what I’ll accomplish with The Deglutenizer in the upcoming year.
Goals
- Produce one blog post and YouTube video every other week.
- Stream on twitch at least twice per week.
- Begin earning income as The Deglutenizer to reinvest into the process of content production and improve quality of content.
My primary goal this year is to produce content regularly on multiple platforms where the type of content is targeted to the strengths of each platform. To that end, I developed smaller benchmark goals to mark the path toward the larger vision.
I want to make Affiliate on twitch by the end of March (what a great birthday present for myself, right? March 31st is my birthday, by the way, if you want to get me a present). By earning money based on the content I produce, I can reinvest that capital into purchasing equipment, hiring interns, and buying more ingredients now that I’m producing content for YouTube and twitch.
Improving my content is also why I set up a Patreon. Patreon is the best platform available now for content creators to ask their fans to donate to their future projects. Producing content regularly costs both time and money, and I need help to give you the kind of content you want to see. By becoming a Patron, you can assist me in getting some…well, assistance. I want to get a second computer with editing software and hire an intern who can work on my next YouTube video while I’m busy with a twitch stream or developing my next recipe.
To promote my existing and upcoming content, I’d also like to build a stronger social media presence. It takes a lot of strategy to optimize social media across platforms and develop impactful, results-driven marketing. Especially when platforms like Instagram force me to use the #linkinbio hashtag to drive visitors to my desired content rather than allowing links in posts.
Plans
I will be developing new content around working full time Monday through Friday (as my schedule currently stands). A YouTube video and associated blog post will be published every other week on the weekend. Also, I will stream live on twitch at least twice a week, probably on Tuesday and Friday afternoons or similar.
February will once again be Frybruary, with two YouTube videos, and one twitch stream dedicated to Frybruary content on alternating weeks. The other six or more streams that month will be healthier to balance with all the fried foods I’ll be eating.
This April will see me take another crack at April Meal Prep (A.M.P.)! A lot of family stuff was going on last April. I was also a prep cook in the kitchen at work, and I couldn’t bring myself to be a prep cook at home, too. But family stuff has calmed down, and I’ve gotten a diagonal promotion to the office at work, so be ready to get A.M.P.ed this April!
I’m bringing back monthly giveaways! That starts with my contest this month where the prize is a set of tools I personally curated for the beginner cook. Prizes include a 10.25” Lodge cast iron pan, 6-piece knife set with wood block, 6-qt. oval Crockpot, and more!
Future giveaways will include a beginner baking set, Good Eats 3-book set (The Early Years, The Middle Years, The Later Years), DDPYOGA dvd sets and app subscriptions, assorted gluten-free product prizes, gift cards, event tickets, and more!
I know, one of those things is not like the others. Something else you’ll see a lot of this year on social media and possibly on twitch is that I’m going to get certified in DDPY this year. Certification includes lots of journaling, 1 hour per day/5 days a week of DDPY workouts, studying of certification materials, and practice teaching with video submissions. Most of my next paycheck will go to the registration fee for the certification program. And then I will pray to the elusive money gods for more money to miraculously appear in my bank account.
Predictions
- I will make twitch affiliate by the end of March (my birthday).
- My first intern will be hired before the end of 2019, with their own work station for editing videos and other tasks as necessary.
- By July 1st, I will have set up a permanent laptop and webcam station in the kitchen for live streams on twitch.
- Before the end of 2019, I will have made my first travel video documenting my experience being gluten-free in an unfamiliar place.
- I will achieve my $200/mo. milestone on Patreon (at which point I’ll make paella on a live twitch stream). Also, I will be on my way to the $500/mo. milestone (when I will make a custom thank-you video which will feature the names of each of my Patrons who helped me achieve that goal).
To make these predictions come true, I’m going to need your help. Whether you become a Patron on Patreon or follow me on twitch and help me reach affiliate, I need to start generating income from my content to be able to reinvest in my Deglutenizer projects.
As my income grows, so will the quality of my content, which will benefit my followers. If you want more streams of Sunday brunches and holiday meals, help me host those streams. If you want me to deglutenize your favorite dishes, help me post those blogs and videos. If you like what I do now and want me to keep doing it, help me maintain my Adobe and A2Hosting subscriptions.
I’m looking forward to growing The Deglutenizer into a content production powerhouse this year! I set my goals high, but I know that with some support from all of you, we can get there together.
