Latest Update on the Exciting Life of The Deglutenizer

Quick update for everyone about the blog! My next recipe post will be my vegan chocolate cake that I sell at my local markets. I have recorded the video content, I just need to have time and energy to sit down and edit it. What’s taking so long? Hey, I’m a busy girl!

Of course, I have the markets where I sell three days a week. And I must spend a couple days a week baking enough goods to sell at the markets. Then around that, I have this seemingly unending side job helping a website launch as something I signed on for before deciding to leave graphics as a career. Except I didn’t sign on for the stuff I’m doing now, I just got roped in. And now they’re trying to rope me in for more stuff, and I’m about to have to drop the hammer that it’s not in my job description.

Speaking of my own business, I’m about halfway through developing my pitch packet for restaurant consultation. I seem to be stuck searching through articles debating about whether restaurants see an increase in profit after adopting a gluten-free menu. I’m trying to find a couple good ones from reputable sources that say, “profits increased by x% between 2014 and 2016 after (Restaurant Name) introduced its gluten-free menu options.” So far, I haven’t spotted anything with such clear language.

Thankfully, I recently lost a distraction, and am now 100% single rather than just the 98% single that I seemed to be while dating this one guy. So now my free time can be utilized to update the blog, bake for markets, and finish my restaurant pitch packet. Oh, and the under-the-table, no-longer-freelance, everlasting-and-unending side job…that’s still a thing for a little while longer.

And then there’s that little thing called life that I still have to manage. Around all the other stuff, I still have to do laundry, and cook for myself, and wash dishes, and clean various rooms of the house because it’s my space, and my space shouldn’t be disgusting. So I’m trying to make the house less gross this week, because it’s affecting my productivity and health. Maybe someday my mom will learn how not to be a hoarder. Or at least how to organize all the stuff she won’t throw away.

Anyway, I did record the video for my vegan chocolate cake, and I think I’ll get some time this week to edit video and hopefully update the blog. My current recipe is by weight, and the video shows me using the scale to measure. I will reverse-engineer the recipe for volume measurements, but I’ll probably round a few things just to make it easier to measure. If one of the flours converts to 1 cup and 1 ¼ tsp., I’ll probably round it to 1 cup. Thanks to my readers for sticking with me through this. Your patience will be rewarded with new content, and possibly even regular new content once my side job is done.
